Munich, 5 March 2013 - Cree presents the industry's first-output white LED that obtained under laboratory nadair conditions a brightness of 276 lumens nadair per watt (lm / W). Thus, the company is again a record for efficiency. It was not until almost a year ago the LED specialist with a white LED, the mark of 254 lumens per watt (lm / W) was achieved. The new record value of 276 lm / W was achieved at a color temperature of 4401 K and 350 mA.
This was made possible by the innovative SC 3 technology platform of Cree, which is already integrated in all new Cree XLamp LEDs. In order to deliver the most advanced LED components, the SC-3 platform includes the silicon carbide technology from Cree, enhancements in the areas of LED chip architecture and phosphor technology, and a novel approach to the design of enclosures.
"The innovation from our labs are the basis for our XLamp lighting-class LEDs," said John Edmond, Cree co-founder of and head of the Department of Optoelectronics development. "LEDs with higher performance speed up the development of better LED-based applications and reduce development costs for LED designs."
