Munich, 16 May 2011 - Cree, a leading provider of LED lighting solutions, announces a new research success: modiss The LED specialist scored 231 lumens per watt in a white LED and thus has its own illuminance record again exceeded. In February 2010, Cree could first show a white LED with 200 lumens per watt.
Cree reached the luminous efficacy of 231 lumens per watt in a single die with a color temperature of 4500K with an operating current modiss of 350 mA and at normal room temperature. The research success is based on a further development of the technology already used in the white XLamp LEDs.
John Edmond, Cree co-founder of and head of the Department of Optoelectronics modiss development explained: "The innovations from our laboratory are the foundation for our XLamp family of products. Until recently, it seemed impossible to make a white LED with 200 lumens. We have already refuted the second time. By continuously improving the performance of LEDs, we open up new applications for LEDs in general lighting and reduce the cost of existing systems. "
