LG Display today announced that the world's most energy efficient crescent lighting LCD TV with LED backlight developed. Well you might think that it concerns a small model but it is a TV with a 47 inch screen size. The model uses LG's proprietary LED technology with only one vertical side LED lights are placed.
According to LG TV offers maximum brightness while much less energy is consumed than other LCD / LED displays of 40 inches or larger and even less than normal PC monitors 20 inches or larger. The large reduction in energy consumption is mainly because the number of LED lights is drastically reduced. Only one short side with this lighting, while the brightness and contrast remain optimal.
Despite a size of 47 inches, the new model consumes only 28 watts and is supplied to 400 Nits brightness. The advanced LED technology must combine with local dimming technology for optimal HD picture. The design takes advantage of a smaller number of LED lights with a frame that is only 8.5mm thick.
For now there are no plans to bring the TV in the short term for the market, but we do expect at CES 2012 yet the first models (perhaps from other manufacturers) which are at least as energy efficient.
